Shenandoah Summer Weekend Itinerary

A Shenandoah Summer Weekend in Winchester, Virginia
Inspired by our Shenandoah Summer candle

Summer in Winchester is all about slowing down and soaking in the beauty of the Shenandoah Valley. Inspired by the scent of our Shenandoah Summer candle—honeysuckle, fresh herbs, and warm air—we’ve created a laid-back weekend itinerary full of local charm.

Saturday Morning: Winchester Farmers Market
Start your weekend at the Winchester Farmers Market. You’ll find fresh produce, flowers, baked goods, and local favorites. Grab breakfast and snacks to take on the road.

Saturday Late Morning–Afternoon: Tubing the Shenandoah River
After the market, head to Front Royal for a tubing adventure. Plan to spend most of the day on the river—floating through calm stretches with mountain views and sunshine. It’s the perfect way to relax and reset.

Saturday Evening: Dinner at Pizzoco
Once you’re back in town, grab a pizza at Pizzoco. This converted gas station-turned-pizza-joint is a local favorite with great outdoor seating, cold drinks, and wood-fired pies.

Sunset Stop: Wine at James Charles Winery
Wrap up the evening with a glass of wine at James Charles Winery. Just outside of town, it’s the perfect place to enjoy a Shenandoah Valley sunset.

Stay Overnight at The George Washington
Book a stay at The George Washington, a boutique hotel in Old Town Winchester. Walkable to restaurants and shops, it’s stylish and peaceful—perfect after a full summer day.

Sunday Morning: Breakfast + Historic Mill Picnic
Take a scenic drive to Millwood and pick up coffee and breakfast from the Locke Store. Just across the road, you’ll find the historic Burwell-Morgan Mill—a quiet, scenic spot to enjoy your meal and unwind.

Sunday Midday: Explore the MSV Trails + Scraposaurs
Head back to town to explore the Museum of the Shenandoah Valley. Walk the gardens and trails and check out the Scraposaurs—giant dinosaur sculptures made from scrap metal. It’s a fun way to enjoy the outdoors before heading home.
